The greatest love ever displayed is that the love of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The greatest display of love was when Jesus laid down His life for His friends and His enemies because He loved them both. To Love is not easy, it challenges us at various levels. Love demands of us that we give up our time, money, our conveniences etc. Love requires sacrifice. Love has a price. And it is that very price that JESUS has paid.

Jesus is the full expression of God’s love and that is something we experience and understand.
JESUS had a mission and that which he was on he knew of the challenges that were coming his way to deter Him from reaching His objectives. But He overcame evil with good, he overcame evil with love. Love was his weapon and in every situation he portrayed love. If there is a problem, there is always a solution and to every problem, love finds a way to the solution. If one is sad, love finds joy, if one is weary, love finds strength in time of need. Love will always make a way where there seems to be no way!  Love ushers in a supernatural endowment of God’s wisdom when we have exhausted all human ideas. Where there is worldly intelligence, love will overcome and sceptics will no longer fight it out using practicality. JESUS knew that love is one way to victory!

GOD is love and whoever lives in GOD, lives in love and GOD in Him. JESUS lived in his FATHER and depended on his Father’s love to get Him through any challenge. One day as Jesus and the disciples were sailing on the Sea of Galilee, a fierce storm swamped the boat and they suddenly in great danger. The disciples woke Jesus saying, "Master, Master, we’re going to drown!" He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters and all was immediately calm. ‘Where is your faith?’ he asked his disciples. (Luke 8:24,25) We have to express our faith in GOD, just like JESUS expressed in his Father, when we do so we are secure and nothing shakes us.

Jesus was never indecisive in His actions because love guided him. He always had clarity of thought and action.  One day the soldiers came to arrest Jesus. Simon Peter, drew his sword and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. Jesus commanded Peter, "Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?""(John 18:10, 11) Do not give in to the temptation to over react in the face of heated opposition. We too like JESUS need love to flow through us, to keep your head cool when others tend to lose control of their own thinking.

Jesus’s love empowers us to keep our emotions under control, we are slow to anger and not quick in reacting. We don’t keep ill feelings in our hearts, we no longer intend to make enemies or foster feelings that maintain enmity with people. While Jesus was speaking, Judas Iscariot arrived with a crowd armed with clubs and swords, sent from the chief priests to arrest Jesus. Judas, the betrayer had arranged a signal with the crowd to signal which one to apprehend. Going at once to Jesus, Judas said to Jesus, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed Him. Jesus replied, "Friend, do what you came for." (Matt. 26:48-50) Here it was love in JESUS that was kind to Judas despite of his known betrayal!

Jesus showed His power through love. There is power in the love of JESUS and it was love that raised One day Jesus found Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days. When Mary and Martha saw Jesus they said, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask." Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again… I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies…. Jesus saw Martha weeping and when he saw where they laid Lazarus He wept." (John 11:17-26, 35) Our Lord is able to overcome death, judgment and hell by His great love!

The ultimate love for mankind was this that JESUS loved us enough to die for us!  It was his love for mankind that made the sacrifice that gave us the eternal gift of salvation. Jesus expressed his love in his sacrifice, his wisdom, his grace, his salvation and in his presence. Ohh what a wonderful love!
